Taking it to the Streets is designed to get the youth out of the classroom and from behind the computer and into more true-life experiences. 

Taking it to the Streets can also have a very important transportation component when adding bus transportation.

Taking it to the Streets is a fun, relational curriculum.

for youth to actively experience their community

 

Taking it to the Streets - Life Skills:

  • Is a fun way to involve youth in learning important life skills
  • Is designed with different learning styles in mind so that all youth can have fun and learn useful skills at the same time.
  • Can be used one-on-one with a youth and adult or with a small group of youth at the same time.
  • Puts the relationship in learning.
  • Increases the level of competency for independent life skills as a youth moves out on their own.
  • Takes you out of the classroom and into alternative learning environments
  • Makes fun out of learning life skills.

Life Skills

There are many ways and different combinations to use in planning a Taking it to the Streets Day.
Here are some ideas of how to combine locations for maximum learning.
 
- Go to the Pre-School and then to a Parenting Class.
 
- Go to the Employment Agency and then over to the local mall to collect job applications.
 
- Go to the Bridal Shop and then to the Flower Store.
 
- Go to a Used Car Lot and then take a trip to the Insurance Company.
 
- Go to a Baby Store and then take a trip to a Birthing Class.
These different activities can also be combined with the Taking it to Streets: Daily Living Skills curriculum activities to add a new dimension of learning and FUN!

Taking it to the Streets is a great way to become more cohesive as a group and and to get to know the youth at a deeper level.  And besides, it is so much FUN!
