The RAD (Reactive Attachment Disorder) Support Group was founded
about three years ago as a cooperative effort between Diane
and Rick Brennan and the Department of Social Services. Diane
and Rick Brennan are parents of a child with RAD. The Brennan’s
and the Department of social Services recognized the need to
share information and resources, as well as for support among
birth parents, grandparents, adoptive parents, foster parents
and others who face the special challenges related to raising
a child with Reactive Attachment Disorder.
The goal of this group is to help families that are dealing
with children with attachment issues. Meetings provide parents
with a safe environment to express their feelings. Parents gain
understanding and support, a positive perspective, a feeling
of hope and an awareness that they are not alone. It is an opportunity
to share our stories, our ups and downs, our successes, failures,
strategies and frustrations. We trade ideas and information
through informational speakers, educational video presentations
and offer an understanding and support for challenges that RAD
presents.
The Rapid City support group meets monthly on the third Tuesday
of each month at 7:00pm. Meetings are held at the Department
of Social Services offices located at 510 North Cambell Street,
Rapid City, SD. For more information contact Lynne Eixenberger

The Northern Hills support group meets the third Tuesday of
February, May, august and November at the Brennan’s home,
1846 Eighth Avenue in Belle Fourche, SD. For more information
